Chris Kunstadter is a Vice President of XL Insurance. He manages XL's space insurance facility, based in New York, a leading provider of launch, in-orbit and related insurance coverages for satellites, launch vehicles and other space payloads. Mr. Kunstadter is actively involved in all aspects of XL's space insurance business, including technical, financial and actuarial analysis, policy wording construction, claims handling and business development.In addition, he has been responsible for developing and exploiting innovative satellite salvage opportunities, as well as being involved with numerous failure review boards for satellites and launch vehicles. He joined XL in 2006, after 23 years at U.S. Aviation Underwriters, where he was Executive Vice President in charge of the Aerospace and IT departments. Mr. Kunstadter received a BA degree in French Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1977, and an MS degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1982. He holds a Commercial Pilot license with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings, and is a Certified Flight Instructor.
